With Paul Mason, A.R.C.T.

This a 1974 Jean-Claude Larrivee Classical, on which I studied classical guitar with Rick Summers of the Toronto Guitar Institute from 1977 to 1982. It travelled with me to Morocco and Europe in a custom-built flight case, and I took it everywhere with me when I was performing as a single folk artist around Toronto. It’s very gently electrified for stage use.

I have guided many students through the Royal Conservatory of Music (RCM) examinations in Guitar, and I’m still happy that I began my formal training on classical. I normally start beginners on Aaron Shearer’s “Classic Guitar Technique. Vol I”, move from there to studies by the usual suspects - Sor, Carcassi, Villa-Lobos etc. - and thence to
repertoire for the first RCM Grade we decide to tackle.
